A friendly reminder!

Over the last week I have gotten so many emails about who is in the lead, and who isn’t. I want to be clear, that the number of “likes” on a photo does not in any way determine the winner. Sure, likes on a photo are ONE way for you to show me the level of support you receive from people, but it is not the only.

I am reminding all of you to think bigger than that. I have sent emails to all of the contestants over the last two weeks about volunteering for charity in exchange for support, about things outside of Facebook. Sure, it’s nice to get more traffic flow to my site that is part of the reason I did this. I would rather give an amazing gift to someone then spend money on marketing, but that it my choice as a small business owner.

From day one, I told the contestants I would appreciate them having people like LFP, but it is not a requirement and that having people like your photo was the easiest way to have people show support, not the ONLY WAY. Below are two segments of the contract I had people sign. They clearly state that “liking” is not the only thing that can be done.

4) You may use any avenue you wish to get people to vote. Email, private message, twitter, status updates, word of mouth. Ask your friends and family to share this information on their status updates also. Branch out! Don’t be afraid! Even if your coworker doesn’t have facebook, maybe her 22 year old daughter does!

7) LFP reserves the right to choose the winner. I will base my choice on the level of support you receive. I will carefully review the numbers/comments and make my choice. This contest is not based solely on the number of likes. It is a combination of your story and support you receive.

My inbox has been flooded with comments, concerns, who is in the lead today type emails. Again, THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS IS ABOUT. It is a definite factor, but it will not determine the final outcome. I am asking all of you to dream big, and come up with something bigger and better than just likes.

So what’s my new twist? The day before the contest is over, I will select 3 random LFP brides and have them vote on who they think should win, and have them pick a special surprise FOR EVERY COUPLE IN THE CONTEST! The 3 brides will vote on who they think should win, and that will help me make my choice! The final decision is still mine, but I will heavily consider what my 3 brides have to say!
