Today's topic is Chemistry.
No matter how good (or bad) a photographer is, there is one thing that they can not create – Chemistry. You, the subject, either have it with those around you or you don’t. Sure, a photographer can do they best they can to help you get at ease, but Chemistry is something that can not be faked.
I encourage couples to interact closer than they normally would. I know it sometimes feels funny and uncomfortable, but the end result really is amazing. Two people sitting side by side smiling is not the same as her head on his shoulder and them holding hands smiling. If you want your photos to be intimate and special, you need to create that. My job is to help you feel comfortable and guide you through it.
From maternity to couples to family beautiful photos come from Chemistry. Beautiful lighting, a talented photog’ with creative vision and a beautiful location all play into this also… but chemistry is something we can not photo shop for you.
Look at photos you love, what is it that you love about them? Chances are it’s the look in someone’s eyes, how romantic it appears, that you can feel the love through the photo. All of that (and more) comes down to chemistry.
Next time you have your photo taken (professional or not) think about what you want to convey. Skip the Sears Portrait studio look, and try and create a level of intimacy or chemistry people can see. I promise, you will love it.
